One of the biggest regeneration projects is happening near London, in an old English town: Slough.
Although often joked about for being a run-down industrial town, a major change is currently undergoing. With over £450 million of investment and a multitude of new homes being built, such as the SO Slough development, several areas are now being rebuilt and created anew in order to welcome new people and rejuvenate the old areas.
Being only 30 minutes away by train from London, and with the M4 and M25 around the corner, Slough is in a strategic location for travel and work commuting. The highest concentration of HQs for global companies is also found here, such as DHL, Lego and Blackberry.
The council also intends to break away from its strictly-industrial constructions, launching the creation of a new Cultural Hub, called "The Curve", where museums, exhibitions, galleries and learning workshops take place; it also hosts a major library with over 63,000 books and public computers available.
Many film productions also happen here, thanks to Pinewood Studios and other similar facilities, where Hollywood actors and film crews gather to create motion pictures such as James Bond or Star Wars.
With the many advantages that the town currently offers, as well as the attractive regeneration plans for becoming a modern centre for work and affordable living, we had to pay a visit to our construction for Rent-To-Buy homes: the SO Slough.
