SO what about my pet?

Published: 14 April 2022

We all know that your pet is your best friend, so if you’re thinking of buying a Shared Ownership home with us at SO Resi make sure you check out the information below first.

Who’s a good doggo?

Even if your pet is an angel (which all pets obviously are), not everyone will agree! Pets affect those around you, including your neighbours, so all residents (owners and tenants) need our permission before getting a pet. If your application is approved and you are given permission to have a pet in your SO Resi home, you’ll need to take care that your pet doesn’t upset any of your neighbours.

The decision to allow a pet in one of our properties is based on a few factors. These include the type of property you have, your tenancy type, and if you have access to your own garden or direct outdoor access (to allow for zoomies and walkies).

Pawsome, what’s next?

If your home is approved as a suitable home for pets, there are also some rules around the pets themselves. For cats and dogs, you can have a maximum of two animals, but we do not allow any dogs that come under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. Caged animals, such as rabbits and hamsters are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Farm animals (including chickens) and animals that come under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 are not allowed in any of our properties.

Applying for a pet

When applying for a pet you will need to let us know what pet you would like, including the breed and information about your home including the garden or outdoor areas you have access to.
